Episode 8: Kalumburu And The Mitchell Plateau
Snaking off the legendary Gibb River Road is an even more remote and spectacular detour. We start the side trip with a visit to some unique rock art galleries, hike out to the awesome Mitchell Falls. We finish up at the Aboriginal community of Kalumburu, the northernmost settlement in Western Australia, where we’re treated to some excellent fishing, stunning views, and a little excitement courtesy of Mother Nature.
Hello Gavin just a quick note for you I have just finished my daughters 3.5 V8 engine rebuild and startup, something for you the front engine camshaft housing and water pump mount are no longer made. So if you have a corroded housing due to water pump and engine coolant not being used you will have to find a donour motor for parts. This is not always simple but can be sorted by using a 3.9 V8 engine housing, but this will mean a change in oil pump size for the better but still a change. Prior to starting the engine for the first time I made an adapter for my electric drill which connected to the oil pump via the distributor hole. I removed the distributor at top dead centre number 1 and inserted the drill adaptor, ran the drill for ten minutes to purge the complete engine then reinstalled the distributor and started the engine for its first start. I had no tappet noise and no bearing knock, instant oil pressure very happy.
